The Rupert & Eithne Strong Award 2010 Shortlist Announced
The Rupert and Eithne Strong Award recognises first collections published in English or Irish by Irish poets in 2009. The shortlist for 2010 is Tolstoy in Love by Ray Givans (Dedalus Press),
The Owl and the Pussycat by Tom Mathews (Dedalus Press), Laughter Heard from the Road by Maggie O'Dwyer (Templar Poetry) and Tír Tairngire by Peadar Ó hUallaigh (Coiscéim).
The prize-winner will receive €2,500. The short-listed nominees will read at the Strong Reading during the dlr Poetry Now 2010 Festival. The winner will be announced at the Strong Reading by the 2010 judge Liam Carson.The award is made possible by the generous support of the Strong Family in memory of the lives and work of Rupert and Eithne Strong.

iad-T in the Park presents Exquisite Fictions (Literary Fiction)
Date:Saturday 27th February
Time: 12.00pm to 4.00pm
Fiction slam open to all, followed by readings from two of Ireland's most exciting young literary writers, Claire Kilroy and Kevin Barry.
Writers, readers and booklovers of all genres are invited to drop in to iad-T in the Park, in the Tea Rooms, People’s Park, Dún Laoghaire, for an exciting mix of literature, cakes and superstrength espresso!
The events are free of charge, open to all and will run from midday to 4pm once a month from Nov 2009 to April 2010.

Gravitation 2010
 Date: Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th March
Time: 11.00am to 4.00pm Location: Monkstown Pool and Fitness Centre
Monkstown Pool & Fitness Centre will be home to boards, bikes, blades and beats for Gravitation 2010. Experience the power and skill of skateboarding and BMX displays. Marvel at the speed and agility of expert bladers and spin to hip hop beats. Check out some of the city’s top skateboarders with displays from well-known names and exciting BMX displays.
The skate park will be FREE to the public to test their skills and experts will be on hand to provide tips throughout the event. The aim of the event is to embrace the wide selection of alternative sports and urban culture in Ireland and provide a platform to showcase boards, bikes, blades and beats at their best.

CANVAS present This Is Not An Art Class

This Is Not An Art Class is a place were young people with an interest in creating; experimenting and exploring their own ideas can meet and develop artwork individually or as part of a group. It's an evening of making art and socialising.
If you are between 14 and 21, would like to play around with ideas, materials and chat about all these things, you are more than welcome to come along on Thursday nights.
