A silent film accompanied by a live performance of the original score. Directed by Ellen Cranitch, music by Ronan Guilfoyle, performed by Metier.


dlr Arts presents, Dún Laoghaire - Life in the Day. This is a rather special collaboration between composer and bass player Ronan Guilfoyle, and musician and broadcaster Ellen Cranitch. It’s a silent movie, filmed in Dún Laoghaire town and the surrounding area, and documenting the ordinary day-to day life of this unique town, with an especially composed score, performed live by Metier, the dlr Jazz Ensemble in Association.

Improvisation and Storytelling workshop with Mia Gallagher, followed by a presentation and discussion with Annie Ryan and Michael West of The Corn Exchange, the groundbreaking company behind Dublin Theatre Festival hit ‘Freefall’.

Writers, readers and booklovers of all genres are invited to drop in to iad-T in the Park, in the Tea Rooms, People’s Park, Dún Laoghaire, for an exciting mix of literature, cakes and super-strength espresso!

This event is free of charge, open to all and runs from midday to 4pm.

Wanderly Wagon given clearance to fly for the Dublin Puppet Festival this April

Supported by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, The Dublin Puppet Festival takes place from April 19th to 25th 2010 and replaces the International Puppet Festival Ireland.

Despite its new name, location and its move from autumn to spring, this year’s Puppet Festival will, as always, feature an amazing array of puppet performances from all over the world, with entertainment and excitement for all ages.

The 2010 Festival is dedicated to the memory of its founder, legendary puppeteer and entertainer, Eugene Lambert who passed away in February of this year. To mark his passing, his famous flying caravan will take to the skies again and is scheduled to land in Wolfe Tone Square, on Saturday April 24th.
